Gomaru-ryu Kobujutsu (Weapons)

Gomaru-ryu Kobujutsu is an art dedicated to the study of weapons use. (It includes, for the most part, primarily traditional Japanese weapons.) Kobujutsu is a stand alone weapons martial art with its own belt progression from white belt to black belt ranks. However it also makes a great complimentary art for anyone studying a style of hand-to-hand martial arts, such as Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Aikido, or Kenpo, or for those studying a sword art such as Kendo or Kumdo. As a student progresses through the ranks of the Kobujutsu they add more and more weapons to their arsenal.

Some of the weapons included in the art are:

Wooden Weapons:

Fighting Sticks (Keibo or Tanbo)
Short Stick (Yawara-bo or Kubotan)
Half-staff (Hanbo)
Cane (Tanjo)
Short Staff (Jo)
Long Staff (Bo)
Side-bar Baton (Tonfa)

Metal Trapping Batons:

Single-pronged baton (Jutte)
Double-pronged baton (Sai)

Accessory Weapons:

War Fan (Tessen)
Traditional Hair Pin (Kanzashi)
Hand Spike (Tecchu)

Flexible Weapons:

Weighted Chain (Manriki-gusari)
Combat Cord (Torihimo)
Net
Grappling Chuck

Edged Weapons:

Knife (Tanto)
Sickle (Kama)
Short Sword (Kodachi)

Combination Weapons:

Sickle and Weighted Chain (Kusarigama)
Short Staff and Weighted Chain (Chigiriki)

This does not represent the order in which these weapons are learned and does not mean that other weapons are not available for study if desired.
